WHAT HAPPENS?
The PADI Rescue diver course covers dive accident scenarios, self-rescue skills, accident prevention and management. There is no denying that the rescue course is challenging – but it is also a lot of fun! Over the course you will develop the knowledge and skills to manage dive accident situations, render necessary first aid and effectively perform diver assists and rescues.

WHATS INVOLVED?

  • Learning a range of in-water rescue skills including surfacing an unconscious diver, rescue breathing, how to handle a panicked diver and exiting an unresponsive diver
  • Develop teamwork, management and delegation skills as you and your classmates learn how to manage different accident ‘scenarios’
  • Learn how to use emergency equipment including SMBs and compass navigation to organise and conduct search patterns for missing divers
  • Prepare an Emergency Assistance Plan for a local dive site using your training to source appropriate and accurate information
  • An introduction to how to deal with suspected DCI or pressure related injuries through Oxygen provision.

HOW MUCH AND WHAT IS INCLUDED?
The course price is $425 and includes:

  • 2 evenings and 2 days tuition and certification fee
  • PADI crew pack including reference materials for you to keep and use after the course.
  • PADI Rescue Diver slates
  • Full equipment hire for the duration of your course
  • Your PADI certification.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED AND WHEN DO I START?
The PADI rescue diver program is usually conducted over 2 evenings and a weekend. We can also run the course over 2 weekdays if requested. Please see the calendar for starting dates.

Everyday begins and ends at the Dive Centre:

Tues - Thurs: Course Introduction and Knowledge Development 6 - 9pm
Sat - Sun: Rescue Training exercises (9am – 5pm). Open water rescue scenarios (9am – 5pm).

WHERE DO WE GO?
The knowledge development portion of the course is conducted at the Dive Centre.

Training dives are usually conducted at either Clovelly Pool or Bare Island. Although many of the skills involved with this course involve work on the surface, you will still be able to log 4 of the open water rescue scenarios as dives. All the dives are shore dives and a description of each site can be found at our diving in Sydney page.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
To book a place on the Rescue Diver course just contact us and let us know when you want to start. Payment is on booking to secure your place, once that is received you can pick up your PADI crew pack.
