WHAT HAPPENS?
The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world's most popular entry level diving
certification. It qualifies you to dive independently to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet). PADI is
the world's largest diving training agency, and your Open Water certification will be recognised throughout the world.
WHATS INVOLVED?
The course is divided into three parts:
- Knowledge development including quizzes and a multiple-choice exam where you learn the basic principles and procedures involved with going underwater.
- A session in the swimming pool where you will learn and practise the basic scuba skills and familiarise yourself with the equipment.
- As the final part of your training you will complete 4 ocean dives at our local dive sites.
HOW MUCH AND WHAT IS INCLUDED?
The course price is $425 and includes:
- 4 days tuition including pool and certification fees
- PADI crew pack. This is great reference material for you to keep and use after the course.
- Full equipment hire for the duration of your course except personal equipment (mask, snorkel, boot and fins). Personal equipment can be purchased during your course at discounted prices.
- Your PADI certification.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED AND WHEN DO I START?
PADI Open Water Diver Course is a 4 day course and can be completed on a full time
or part time basis. The full time course starts every Monday and runs through to Thursday, or
the part time course runs every Saturday and Sunday and continues the following weekend.
Please see the calendar for starting dates.
Regardless of how you choose to complete the course the 4 day schedule remains the same, and every day begins and ends at the Dive Centre:
Day 1:Course introduction and Knowledge Development: 11.30am – 5.00pm.
Day 2: Confined water training in the swimming pool: 9.00am – 5.00pm
Day 3: Knowledge Development & 2 open water dives: 9.00am – 5.00pm.
Day 4: Knowledge Development & 2 open water dives: 9.00am – 5.00pm.
WHERE DO WE GO?
The knowledge development portion of the course is conducted at the Dive Centre and we go to the pool for the confined water training.
The dive sites that we use for the open water dives are dependent on weather and sea conditions, although we generally use dives sites at North Bondi, Clovelly Pool, Bare Island (La Perouse) or Gordon's Bay. All the dives are shore dives and description of each site can be found at our diving in Sydney page.
