WHAT HAPPENS?
Extend your diving range- The PADI Deep Diver course will give you the training to dive to the depth limits of recreational diving. You will learn how to plan and organise a deep dive, what additional safety factors you have to account for and you will practice decompression procedures. We will also introduce you to specialised deep diving equipment, techniques and buoyancy considerations.

WHATS INVOLVED?

  • 2.5 days tuition
  • Knowledge development and knowledge reviews where you learn the theory, procedures and techniques involved with deep diving
  • 4 boat dives; all within the 18m to 40m depth range
  • Practical workshop on emergency decompression procedures and the treatment for DCI

The course price is $425 and includes:

  • PADI Deep Diver manual
  • 4 boat dives
  • Your PADI certification
  • Personal attention - only 4 students per Instructor

HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED AND WHEN DO I START?
The PADI Deep Diver course is run over 1 Thursday evening from 6:00pm-9:00pm and the following weekend 9am-4pm each day. Please see the calendar for starting dates.

WHERE DO WE GO?
The knowledge development portion of the course is conducted here at Dive Centre Bondi. All the dives will be boat dives and have a minimum depth of 18m and a maximum of 40m. Our dive sites will be dependent on weather conditions and include Long Reef, North and South head or Magic Point (Maroubra). A full description of each site can be found here.

EQUIPMENT
The majority of the larger and more expensive pieces of equipment are provided in the course cost. However, safety is of paramount importance to us and there are a few pieces of personal safety equipment that we require you to provide to complete PADI Deep Diver.

  • Personal equipment: Mask, snorkel, boots & fins - required by DCB on all courses for hygiene and comfort. If you do not have your own, our staff will help you select some, off which you will receive a student discount. If you do not wish to purchase you can rent these items from us at a cost of $50 for the duration of the course
  • Dive log book
  • Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) - safety equipment required on boat dives with DCB
There are some other items that are not hirable but are highly recommended to enhance your enjoyment, safety and learning experience...
  • Dive knife
  • Reel
  • Wrist mounted compass
  • Underwater slate and pencil

PREREQUISITES

  • You must hold an Advanced Open Water certification.
  • Have dive experience in temperate water diving
  • Have dived within the last 2 months
