Florida Cave Diving

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Hi guys,

Over the last week I took my Cave 2 course with David Rhea in Florida. We spent the first 2 days in the cave around High Springs and dived in Peacock and the famous Ginnie Springs cave system. We then went north to Marianna in Jackson County and dived Jackson Blue, Twin Cave and Hole in the wall. The diving is truly beautiful in warm waters and great visibility. Cave diving requires a certain discipline not found in ocean diving requiring finesse in propulsion techniques, buoyancy and trim to prevent silting out the cave. This course covers complex navigation including jumps, traverses, and circuits, we also covered decompression and stage diving which allows further penetration into the systems. To access the GUE Cave classes you must be certified in GUE Fundamentals.

Hope you enjoy the photos and I will try to get some video soon!
