Scotts Learn to Dive

This week saw the completion of a fantastic Learn to Dive course with the boys from Scots College. The guys were put through their paces both from a theory and confined water perspective before putting it all into practice out in the open ocean. The theory section of the course covered of basic dive physics, physiology, safety procedures and equipment configurations. During the confined water session at the Scotts College pool the boys experienced their first breaths under water as well as learning a variety of skills. Then came the big moment of putting it all into practice in the open ocean…and everyone did a fantastic job! It was a great week for all involved and we looking forward to seeing you all again soon under the waves!

The Scots College Advanced Course

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Well done to the team from Scotts College who achieved the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver rating. The team completed Adventure dives which developed Peak Performance Buoyancy, Navigation and Fish Identification skills over 2 days. The course then climaxed with Boat diving and a Deep Adventure dive during which a huge bull ray, Port Jackson sharks and Weedy Sea Dragons were spotted. A big thank you to the Scotts Advanced Team for a great week of diving.

Truk and Palau

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Two weeks later after 11 flights and 22 dives and a few Budweiser’s everyone agreed this was a trip of a life time.

We spent the first week in Truk Lagoon, the wreck diving mecca of the world. A sunken fleet of Japanese WWII ships in a beautiful tropical lagoon with crystal clear water, 30’C water temperature and the relaxing ‘island life’ make this one of the greatest dive destinations in the world.

Week two we flew to Palau, famous for big pelagic action and pristine tropical coral reefs covered in magnificent marine life. With a starting line up of 11 (over) enthusiastic divers this was the best trip we have ever pulled off: Special thanks to our team: Robin on his 30th birthday, Julian, Beck, Andy, Frankie, James, Daniel, Chris, Cerri, Jenny and Steve or was it his son:)

Now we look to the horizon for new tropical islands to conquer but be sure we will be back to Truk and Palau very soon.

Please enjoy the video from the trip that Daniel and James have but together……great work boys!

Thanks again

Robin.

GUE Fundamentals

Monday, September 15th, 2008

This weekend we held another successful GUE Fundamentals course. Sam, Pascal and Bede all embraced the challenges the course presented and enjoyed a great weekend of diving. During this course we had some additional help from Nick Schoeffler and Jamie Obern both GUE Instructor interns who provided lots of positive feedback and assistance. Thank you to everyone for an enjoyable and fun weekend.

The Shaft Cave Dive

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

The Shaft is a very unique dive in Mount Gambier cave systems. It is very hard to get good footage inside because it is so vast. Basically it is a massive underground lake, but I think the footage leading up to the dive explains why it is one of the most popular dives in ‘The Mount’. Enjoy!
